Healthy Holiday Recipes You’ll love

It’s that time of year again! The holidays are right around the corner and while we welcome in the needed rest and down time this season brings, it can also invite in an element of indulgence and overconsumption.

Healthy can still taste delicious and not leave you feeling exhausted, bloated and uncomfortable. This is why I love creating recipes that are good for you and also taste good. Below I have shared three of my favourite holiday recipes the whole family will love. I hope you enjoy!

Delicious Healthy Holiday Brownies

The recipe

  • 1 ripe mashed banana

  • ¼ cup of natural almond or peanut butter

  • 2 tbs of coconut sugar

  • ¼-⅓ cup of pure organic maple syrup (depending on how sweet you want it)

  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • ¼ cup melted coconut oil

  • ¾ cup of raw organic cacao powder

  • 2 flax eggs (2 tbs ground flax seeds + 6 tbs of water)

  • ¼ tsp of salt

  • ½ cup finely ground almond flour

  • crushed walnuts, chocolate chips, shredded coconut, crushed candy cane (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 325F and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper. Create your flax egg in a small bowl and let it sit for 15 mins.

In a large bowl combine mashed banana, almond or peanut butter, coconut oil, vanilla, maple syrup and coconut sugar. Mix until a light brown colour and smooth consistency. Slowly mix in cacao powder in small increments until chunks are gone (should look like frosting). Mix in salt and flax egg. With a spatula fold in almond flour & chocolate chips (if using). Consistency should be a thick batter. Pour into baking pan and smooth out top. Add crushed walnuts and coconut shreds on top. Bake for around 30-35 mins. Let cool for 2 hours then cut into small squares. Enjoy!

Refreshing Cranberry & Grapefruit Mocktail


The Recipe

  • 2 cups cranberry juice or 1 cup 100% pure cranberry juice

  • 2 cups freshly squeezed grapefruit juice

  • 3 tbs maple syrup

  • 2 tbs lime juice

  • 2 cups sparkling water

  • Cranberries & rosemary for garnish

Directions:

Mix all ingredients in a large pitcher. Taste test to see if you need more lime, juice or maple syrup. Divide mixture into champagne or cocktail glasses 3/4 of the way full and top with more sparkling water. Garnish with cranberries, rosemary and grapefruit wedges.

Roasted Turmeric Cauliflower

The Recipe

  • One large head of organic cauliflower

  • 2 tbs olive oil

  • 3-4 garlic cloves

  • 1/2 tsp cumin

  • 1/2 tsp paprika

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric

  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes for heat (optional)

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • pomegranate seeds, crushed pistachios & chopped parsley for garnish

Directions:

Preheat oven to 425F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Cut cauliflower into 1 inch florets and mince garlic. Add cauliflower, garlic, olive oil, cumin, paprika, turmeric, pepper flakes, salt and pepper into a bowl and mix well. Place coated cauliflower onto baking sheet and bake for 25-30 mins until cauliflower is tender. Garnish with chopped parsley, pomegranate seeds and crushed pistachios. Serve as a side dish or eat as a main!
